Compare groups with the right denominator

Ask which problems dominate each customer group and how much scored evidence sits behind them.

  • check Theme shares use all responses in the relevant dataset
  • check Segment comparisons include each group’s response count
  • check NPS calculations leave missing scores out
  • check Recent and prior periods show both mentions and response totals

Action

Switching

How to switch from Thematic

A move like this involves exporting your feedback, mapping your fields, checking the import, and running both systems side by side before you switch.

  1. 1

    Export your feedback

Use Thematic’s CSV export to get the response records your account allows. Include comment text, dates, segments, collection channels and NPS scores where present. Include documented theme labels if they are available in your export. Check Thematic’s export guidance or ask its support team if you are unsure which fields your account can provide.

  2. 2

    Prepare and test the import

Create a dataset for the feedback, then match your export’s column headings to the fields the new system expects. Run the import’s test option before saving records. The import can carry comments, dates, segments, channels and NPS scores, while keeping original fields. A small sample helps you confirm that the mapping makes sense before bringing in the rest.

  3. 3

    Review the test results

Check what the test run flags before importing the full export. Look for headings that need mapping and sample records that need reconciliation. Imported theme labels are proposals for review, not accepted findings. The base does not reproduce Thematic’s trained analysis model, so review the source comments and accept theme assignments based on the evidence.

  4. 4

Run both systems side by side

Keep Thematic available while you check the new system against your normal feedback review. Confirm that the records and fields you need came across, and decide how your team will handle theme review and follow-up actions. Reports, connections, team screens, permissions and integrations may need separate work, so agree what you need before relying on the new setup.

  5. 5

    Switch off Thematic

When you have checked the imported records and agreed how your team will use the new setup, make it the place you use for feedback analysis. Then follow Thematic’s process for ending or changing your account. Keep the exported records according to your business’s retention needs, and make sure any required reports or connections have been addressed before you stop using them.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The main work is usually mapping your own export fields, deciding which history to bring across, and reviewing the imported records and proposed themes. Thematic’s trained analysis model does not transfer as an equivalent feature, and dashboards, permissions and integrations need separate work. If Enterprise DNA installs and runs the system for you, it handles the field mapping and migration work with you.

Questions

Instead of Thematic, answered

Does the free version automatically discover themes like Thematic? expand_more

The free base records proposed themes and calculates results from the evidence an analyst accepts. It does not reproduce Thematic’s trained analysis model. Enterprise DNA can build classification and source connections into your version, with quality checks on your own feedback before you rely on the results.

What comes across from my Thematic export? expand_more

The response import carries comment text, dates, segments, collection channels and NPS scores when present. It can also bring across the documented theme labels as proposals for review. Original fields are retained. We map your column headings and reconcile a sample before moving the rest.

Can I keep our dashboards and existing connections? expand_more

We scope the reports, connections and team screens your business needs as part of building your version. The free version includes read-only summaries, an evidence brief and an action register. Your response export supplies the records; the wider operating setup is agreed during migration.

How are private comments and retention handled? expand_more

New comments need a recorded privacy review. The free checks flag overdue retention reviews and preserve recorded legal holds. They do not certify compliance or remove personal information. We configure access and backup handling for the installed version, and agree what can be shared with each audience.

What will Enterprise DNA charge, and what happens to the records? expand_more

There is one setup fee, then a retainer for the agreed operation and changes. The database belongs to your business. You can export the response records, themes, review history and actions. The free software has no licence fee; hosting and the tools you use to operate it have their own costs.
