A project called Munder Difflin is getting attention because it gives people a simple picture of where AI work is heading. Instead of opening one chatbot for one task, you set up persistent AI “clones” for roles like PR review, content production, and CRM admin. It wraps tools including Claude Code, Copilot, and Grok, then keeps those roles running in the background.

It reached 215 points and 86 comments on Hacker News, which is enough to put it on a lot of operators’ radar. The founder says it gained 20,000 users in a week, but that number hasn’t been independently verified. Commenters also raised a legitimate concern about the project’s unlicensed use of Office-style character branding. That may sound cosmetic, but it points to a bigger issue. When you build a collection of AI workers around business processes, ownership, permissions, audit trails, data handling, and vendor terms matter fast.

The underlying idea is still useful. Most businesses won’t want an unmanaged set of always-on agents touching customer records, code, or published content without controls. But they will want specialised AI workers that have clear roles, defined access, human approval points, and a record of what happened. This is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre: one place to coordinate AI work without turning core operations into an experiment.
