Most AI job-search tools charge monthly fees, often because they host your data, run the matching process on their servers, and wrap it in a web app. career-ops takes a different route. It runs inside local coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode. It can score job listings from A to F, tailor CVs, and track applications, without a hosted backend.

The project has reached 67,767 GitHub stars and is growing by roughly 484 a day. That does not prove it will become a business, but it does show a real appetite for useful AI workflows that people can run themselves. Its stated position against competitors charging $20 to $140 per month is simple, give people the workflow and let them use it locally.

For operators, the bigger signal is the distribution model. A focused workflow, packaged for tools people already use, can spread without building a full SaaS platform first. That can mean lower infrastructure costs, fewer data-handling concerns, and a faster route to learning whether the workflow actually solves a problem. The trade-off is that setup and support can be harder than a polished web product.
