Anthropic reportedly pitches investors a $30T+ addressable market ahead of a ~$2T IPO push

Anthropic is reportedly telling investors that its potential addressable market could exceed $30 trillion as it prepares for an IPO that may value the company at around $2 trillion. That number is not a revenue forecast for next year, or even a clear statement of what customers are spending today. It is a picture of the total economic activity Anthropic believes AI could eventually touch.

The reported figure is larger than SpaceX’s own comparator and exceeds the combined revenue of 191 S&P 1500 technology firms. One finance professor described it as “reaching the end of what’s plausible.” That reaction is useful. Big market estimates are part of the fundraising story. They help investors imagine the ceiling, especially when a company is asking them to support a very large valuation.

For operators, don’t read this as proof that every AI investment will pay off quickly. Read it as a signal of where frontier AI companies think the money will come from, across more business functions, more software categories, and more decisions inside companies. The practical question is still much smaller and more immediate: where can AI reduce time, improve judgement, or make a process more reliable in your business this quarter?
