AI Pulse · Business Models & Winners
The play
Track agent search costs and retrieval quality, then compare specialized indexes against existing search tools before switching infrastructure.
Keenable has raised a $26 million seed round led by Accel to build search infrastructure for AI agents. Its pitch is simple. Human search is built around a person typing a query, reviewing links, and making a judgement. Agents need something different. They need machine-readable results they can call through an API or MCP interface while completing a task.
The company says it has built an independent index of 100 billion documents and is already running in production with AI labs and inference providers. Its pricing also tells you where this market is heading. There is a free, keyless tier for testing, then paid tiers that scale up to dedicated capacity. That is a usage-first model from day one, aimed at becoming part of an agent’s operating cost rather than a tool someone buys once and forgets.
For business owners, the important point is not whether Keenable becomes the winner. It is the category it represents. As more software agents research suppliers, monitor competitors, qualify leads, or answer internal questions, the valuable businesses may be the ones selling the underlying workflow inputs: search, data access, identity, payments, monitoring, and compute. The agent gets the attention, but the infrastructure behind each task can collect recurring usage revenue.
This is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre: visibility into the tools, data sources, and automated workflows your business is starting to depend on.
