The problem
Checking whether a promotion can be covered means pulling stock, forecasts, production plans and ingredient levels from four places. By the time it is done, the chance to fix a shortfall has often passed.
How it works
- Reads stock on hand, allocations and forecasts from the planning system
- Adds promotion uplift from the trade calendar
- Checks production plans against ingredient stock
- Gives the gap in cases and names the constraint
- Shows options, such as a supplier in onboarding, and flags them to the owner
- Leaves production decisions to the planning lead
What it connects to
- Ben (demand planner)Will we cover the Ferncastle Feijoa promotion?
- AgentNot quite. Demand over the next three weeks is 5,550 cases, including the 3,000-case promotion uplift, and we can supply 5,325. That leaves us about 225 cases short.
- Ben (demand planner)Is it the line or the pulp?
- AgentThe pulp. We have enough for 4,200 cases of production, which cuts next Wednesday's run from 2,400 to 1,800. The next Glenkora delivery arrives after that run.
- Ben (demand planner)Where's the new pulp supplier at?
- AgentStonerow's sample passed quality, but their food safety certificate, bank details and site visit are still outstanding. If they clear this week, their first delivery would cover the gap. I've flagged it to Claire Doherty in procurement.
