The problem
The general manager gets yesterday's numbers from three systems and two spreadsheets, usually by mid-morning, after the planning meeting. When something looks off, someone has to dig through the production system to find out why.
How it works
- Reads output, downtime, waste and order data from the production, quality and order systems
- Sends a short summary at 7am by email or chat
- Answers follow-up questions by chat or phone, saying where each number comes from
- Links downtime to the maintenance job and late orders to the customer
- Sticks to the numbers, with no forecasts or judgements about people
What it connects to
- Michael (general manager)How did we go yesterday?
- AgentDandenong South made 57,400 units against a plan of 62,000, which is 93%. Laverton North made 38,600 meals against 38,000, which is 102%. Dandenong had 3 hours 10 minutes of downtime and 2.8% waste, over the 2.5% target.
- Michael (general manager)What caused the downtime?
- AgentMostly a filler seal failure on line 2 during the afternoon shift, 2 hours 25 minutes, maintenance job MJ-7718. The other 45 minutes was a changeover overrun on line 4. That's from the production system.
- Michael (general manager)Did any orders go out late?
- AgentTwo of 43 at Dandenong, both for Harvest Fresh Supermarkets: 1,200 cartons of tomato and basil soup, now due to ship Friday morning. Laverton shipped all 27 on time.
