Pre-start defect reporting for trucking fleets
Takes faults found in drivers' pre-start checks, logs them with the workshop, tells the driver whether the vehicle can go under the workshop's rules, and tells dispatch.

The problem
Drivers note faults on a pre-start form nobody reads until the end of the shift. A marker light becomes a fine, an air leak goes out on the road, and the workshop learns about a fault when the truck is already three hours away.
How it works
- Takes defect reports by phone or text, with photos
- Logs a defect number in the maintenance system against the vehicle
- Uses the workshop's category list to say whether the vehicle stays put or can go and be fixed within 7 days
- Sends anything unclear to the workshop to decide
- Tells dispatch when a vehicle is off the road so the run can be swapped
- Gives drivers and dispatch the status of open defects
What it connects to
- Luke (driver)Morning, pre-start on PM-22, the left mirror glass has a crack across the bottom corner.
- AgentThanks Luke. Can you still see clearly down the side of the trailer in that mirror?
- Sam K (driver)Yeah, it's just the corner.
- AgentThen under the workshop's list that's a category B defect: PM-22 can go, and it gets fixed within 7 days. I've logged DF-3326 and booked it in for Thursday when you're back at Willawong. Can you text me a photo?
- Luke (driver)Done. Also is T-41 fixed yet? I've got it tomorrow.
- AgentNot yet. T-41's marker light is DF-3318, booked for Thursday too. It's category B, so it can still run tomorrow. I'll text you if the workshop changes that.
